James Hudson Taylor (1832-1905) was an English missionary to China; he founded the China Inland Mission, one of the largest and Christian movements in the world.

This website honours the great man by people from his home town of Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

We are immensly proud of his work and of the millions of people that have followed in his footsteps for over a century and the organisation that he inspired through his faith in Jesus Christ.   Link to the Overseas Mission Fellowship

Matthew 13:57(NIV)
[Jesus said]
“A prophet is not without honour except in his own town and in his own home.”

Hudson Taylor's family church building STILL STANDS in a quiet Barnsley backstreet.
It is really old, simple and beautiful. It is a legally protected building under English law due to it's special historic interest.

Christians still worship there - it is a Church!

Two "BLUE Heritage Plaques" mark the birthplace of Hudson Taylor at the Pharmacy on Cheapside.    One is in simplified Chinese language and the other in English.      The location is still a pharmacy - Boots the Chemist.
